Then to now
Back in 2017 we created OceanBlue Portugal. After spending time, living and exploring South Portugal we became so passionate about what the Western Algarve had to offer we opened the doors at our hilltop villa for accommodation and activities.
The idea was to offer comfortable accommodation with fantastic views and the option for guests to experience the kind of activities and adventures we’d enjoyed over the years.
Since then we’ve ridden and run most of the trails, paddled most of the coastline, drunk a lot of very good and very cheap coffee, hosted some very special birthday parties, yoga retreats, active holidays, family gatherings, gym groups as well as many smaller groups of friends, families and couples.
Your hosts Lucy, Sean and Sophia Strevens are from Ventnor on the Isle of Wight. Originally from a family of boatbuilders and with a combined love for the ocean we share a passion for everything outdoors from surfing to biking to traveling.
At least one of us stays in the private part of the villa and is onhand to assist with arrivals, any questions, advise and are happy to make suggestions based on your preferences. We also run the morning activities and adventures like the bike rides or boat trips which you can dip in or out of as you prefer. All our adventures have been designed ready for you to easily discover real off the map Portugal. As your hosts, we’re all about small groups and bespoke adventures

SEAN STREVENS
Sean started the boat-building company Cheetah Marine when he was a fisherman in Ventnor. Fed up with the fact that traditional fishing boats couldn’t handle the conditions on the south coast, he built a new catamaran that could. Cheetah Catamarans are now sold all over the world. Sean is happiest spear-fishing, surfing or mountain-biking.
Qualifications and Experience: Sailed to Australia, Naval Architect MRINA, RYA Yachtmaster Offshore (Commercially endorsed), Powerboat Instructor, BSAC Diver, ASI Paddleboard Instructor, MIAS Mountain bike guide
LUCY STREVENS
Lucy is an oceanographer, personal-trainer and loves anything outdoors. As well as setting up and running OceanBlue Portugal she has set up OceanBlue Coastal Retreats in Bonchurch, OceanBlue Sea Charters, and professionalised the marketing operations at Cheetah Marine turning it into the global business it is today.
Lucy is happiest after an espresso and a run up some steep hills.

SOPHIA STREVENS
Sophia is eighteen. Her favourite things include surfing and traveling. She started competing in surf competitions in 2022, establishing herself as the top U18 female surfer in Algarve and second in England. She has also appeared in commercials, skating the streets of Lisbon and flying in Paris. Sophia has been selected to surf for the English Team and hopes to work in the surf industry when she finishes traveling.
