🌿We’d done a few 5km runs together before Christmas so I knew it would be a test for us both!

👣I’m fine for 20k but any further, I lose the ability to think and speak, witnessed by the concerned tourists who have pulled over when I’ve been ‘man down’ on the ground.🤢

For Izzy who has a love/hate relationship with running 6km – upping this to nearly 30km was also somewhat of challenge.

Small steps, increasing steadily, acknowledging weakness, suffering whilst learning from each hill or obstacle and going for the grit. We’ve run around 7 times since then – pretty much once a week. It is amazing what working towards a common goal in a short time can achieve.🌈

AND then something cool happened…..

🕸I wouldn’t have pushed the training and distance if it wasn’t for Izzy’s challenge. Izzy would have taken one look at the morning deluge of Algarvian monsoon or howling wind and gone back to bed.☔️

💎Jules, deciding she also wanted a piece of the action, wouldn’t have clocked up miles if it wasn’t for the ‘two friends’ waiting at the door at first light. Whilst improving her cardio fitness, she shifted half a stone.💪

Then Aurelia next door to Jules, joined the jogs and we discovered new routes, worked out on beautiful beaches and stretched under the warm sun

Our entanglement of accountability and consistency grabbed others along the way forming habits and attitudes which can be taken away to trap others

One more point….. @OceanBluekid is MEAN at calling you out when you don’t do what you say you’re going to do.
After all, why should our children do what you say, if you don’t do what you say. So set the goal and do it!

Any ideas out there for my 40th later this year?
